Skills and Experience:

  • Educated to degree level or similar in Business Administration, IT or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years project and/or programme management experience of managing projects in large and complex environments including 5-7 years experience running a Programme Office.
  • Experience of managing project portfolios of up to 20 projects.
  • Experience of Jira across Agile and Waterfall developments.
  • Experience of managing projects throughout entire life-cycle.
  • Excellent knowledge of SharePoint and MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint & Word).
  • Expert knowledge and expertise in project/program management and portfolio management methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent financial knowledge (project budgets & line budgets).
  • Competent in Risk, Change and Project / Programme Governance.

Description of work:

  • Analyses all programme and project proposals requiring IT, the impact of them on capacity, costs, benefits, and how accurate/thoroughly defined they are in order that the IT Leadership Team can make an informed decision on the next steps to be taken.
  • Monitor and control programmes/projects progress through status update reports (tracking of milestone realisation, measuring impact against targets,).
  • Help programme/project managers to identify and solve potential issues / risks.
  • Manage the detailed verification and assessment of programme and project proposals to provide information to IT management to inform their decision making, focusing on the areas of:
    • Budget alignment
    • Technical Alignment
    • Strategic Alignment
    • Capacity Analysis
    • Benefits measurement and validation
    • Cross-functional Impact assessment
    • Provision of options and recommendations
  • Work with Programme Management to establish the priority for allocation of resources among the competing demands for enhancements to legacy systems and the development of new business applications.
  • Monitors that projects are formally closed and, where appropriate, subsequently reviewed, and that lessons learned are captured and actioned.
  • Manage the IT Programme Office, to coordinate the IT Project Portfolio to ensure that each project is being formally managed in order to deliver the agreed business benefits, within time, costs and agreed quality.
